2)     Hennops Hiking Trail

In the heart of busy Gauteng, virtually on the doorstep of both Johannesburg and Pretoria, hikers can now experience one of the few unspoiled nature areas at Hennops Hiking Trail. Consisting of four trails setting out from Hadeda Camp, the trail meanders along the Hennops River before veering away into the surrounding mountains.

Two unique features on the trail are the river crossings – 2 suspension bridges and a cable car. There are interesting historical sites along the trail, amongst others an old field (veld) hospital used in the Anglo Boer war. Aspiring historians will enjoy seeing an underground cave where “Pruimpie” lived, traces of old settlements and the old dolomite mines and the ovens in which the rocks were heated to melt and extract the lime.

3)     Holy Hill

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Johannesburg, the Holy Hill is definitely worth a visit. Located in the centre of the city, Holy Hill offers the most soul-stirring views that will definitely leave you in awe. You can spend hours sitting or capturing moments here, and its free. After all, what’s a holiday worth without witnessing breath-taking sights?

4)     Maboneng Precinct

Lying at the centre of the town, Maboneng Precinct is a famous spot in Jozi that offers a fusion of art and culture. Discover the charming cafes, eateries, museums and shopping complex to add more fun to your tour.

5)     Gold Reef City

With the amusement parks, historical galleries and shaft of the Crown Mines, Gold Reef City offers a lot of entertainment activities. It has exhilarating theme-park rides and petting zoo that makes it an ideal spot for Johannesburg day tour.

6)     Golf

Golf fanatics are in luck: Johannesburg boasts some particularly fine golf courses, a number of which have hosted European PGA Tour and South African Sunshine Tour events. In fact, the only difficulty the avid player is likely to experience is choosing between them. Here is a list:

Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club

Kempton Park Golf Club

Glendower Golf Club

Glenvista Country Club

Wanderers Golf Club

7)     Lion Park

While the lions are the major point of interest for visitors, the park also houses a number of other animals that are indigenous to Africa. And apart from interacting with the lions, you can also indulge in fun activities like a safari expedition and a tour of the four lion pride camps.

8)     Picnic

Make the most of summer in Johannesburg with these picnic spots:

·       Modderfontein Reserve

The 275-hectare private Modderfontein Reserve is managed by the Endangered Wildlife Trust and it’s a pleasure to picnic at the popular (but not overcrowded) Fish Eagle Dam. There are limited benches and braai sites in the area but there’s plenty of shade to lay a blanket beneath the Bluegum trees and enjoy serene dam views.

·       Emmarentia Botanical Gardens

At this estate, you will experience a world of beauty and a scenic view of Joburg. Picnic goers can even hire the paddle boat.

·       Giloolys Farm

The Gillooly’s Farm is also an excellent picnic location situated on the eastern side of Johannesburg. The garden features a large piece of grassland with several braai sites. Even better, there is a restaurant inside the farm. Gillooly’s Farm is a gorgeous venue to have a picnic with your friends and family where you can braai, or suntan on the perfectly manicured lawns or play sport.

9)     Wi:Jump Trampoline Park

This place takes the original concept of a trampoline park to dizzying new heights. It has close to 100 trampolines with running walls, massive 14 metre slides, zip line, a massive obstacle course, dodge ball, wave runner, volleyball, bag jump and basketball.

10)  Mandela House

Located in Soweto, this museum was once home to Nelson Mandela, the hero of the liberation movement. Irrespective of whether you are a history buff or not, this place is an intriguing attraction to visit in Joburg. The four rooms in the house showcase an array of photographs, paintings, and more of the Mandela family. Not just this, but it also exhibits the awards & recognitions earned by Nelson Mandela. https://www.mandelahouse.com/
